the world is (y)ours

My name is Tyler Dever. I'm a college kid who makes official music for MS Paint Adventures. You can see my contributions and projects here, on my music blog. Recently I began composing for the brilliant comic Olympus Overdrive.
This is my general blog for shenanigans and reblogs. I will reblog everything from my music blog though.

Save George Buzinkai!

iambowman:

Yes, the same George Buzinkai who has contributed so much to the soundtrack of Homestuck including Doctor, Explore, Endless Climb, and Firefly has been through a lot lately.

Despite having composed some of the most identifiable and beloved themes in the Homestuck soundtrack, George Buzinkai has been befallen some of the worst luck. In the last year he has suffered many hardships while attempting to pay his way through college to pursue an animation degree with little-to-no financial support. He has had little time to create music between Hurricane Sandy turning his life upside-down for a month and relocating several times throughout the past months.

Most recently his house burned down, leaving him homeless, uninsured, and destroying all his old music equipment. In one fell swoop, Buzinkai has lost all of his work including his Homestuck music and animation projects.

If you have anything to spare, please visit his homepage at buzinkai.net and donate to his Paypal. This isn’t a fundraiser - there’s no rewards - this is simply about George’s well-being.

Buzinkai has been a calm and courteous contributor to Homestuck from the beginning and almost never speaks up until he has something to add. He doesn’t vent about his hardship over the Internet - he has no Tumblr and only 82 posts on the MSPA forum - and only brought these problems to us because he wants us to know he’s trying his best to contribute to Homestuck but just can’t find the time or resources.

So if you have a moment please share his site buzinkai.net with other Homestuck fans and give whatever you can. He has never asked for a favor of any kind from us until now - we hope you’ll help.

If you can’t really contribute, signal boosting would be fantastic! George is a fantastic guy who makes beautiful music. I am sure many people here know what it’s like to have the world feel like it’s crashing down (sometimes literally).

Adding on to Michael’s comment about there being no rewards: you are helping a fallen ally get back on his feet to create more of the magnificent works you know him for!

"I'd be interested in hearing the track that the Lolly/Sucker themes were based off of. Is that just sheet music, or is it an actual track? Or did you write the sheet music for the two themes and have the Roberts do the actual tracks, in which case, I'm understanding this wrong?" With love, sanctferum.

I wrote the main melodies that they both used which really was the same idea but in a major key in Green Lolly and minor for Red Sucker. They both heavily use chromaticism to add the eerie feeling that the cherubs release so much of. Probably about 30-40 seconds of music for RJ’s track and almost 2 minutes for Kali’s. They both took the music in VERY different directions.

RJ’s motif was just piano and then strings playing chords. Kali’s was all piano. The originals wouldn’t be all that interesting to hear except to understand the basic idea they both worked with.

Thanks for the question! I love talking about music. Mine or anything else.

Today has been really eye opening for me

FEELINGS under cut

I kind of want to brag for a second and say that I suggested the title of the album and I feel special because I have a whole lot of input in an album for once instead of a background track so YEAH

So I turn my phone on after the orchestra concert last night, and I had a voice mail. “How peculiar,” I think. Who would have called me late on a Saturday. I’m pretty lame.

It was Michael Guy Bowman, kindly reminding me that I had just lost the game.

Homestuck: The Field Show

allegrettobrioso:

Homestuck: The Field Show. Version 3.0.
(This is the last one, I swear ^^; the next time I get the itch to tear this to pieces and reconstruct it, I’ll just write a completely new show. Sound good?)

Score info under the cut, like always.

Wow this is really neat! May I suggest downloading a Sibelius demo so you have a month to write it out for slightly better sounding instruments? Also Sibelius has a pretty decent drumline and very good keyboards.

Absense

I’m going to my dad’s for break. I don’t have a laptop anymore and can’t really bring my desktop 2000 miles away with me, so I’ll be limited to my phone for the next few weeks. Once I get back I have 15 days of freedom to finish up the few compositional things I have planned and in the works to be completed soon! This means commissions, a Hamsteak song, and HOPEFULLY Sburb 2. I am going to honor everyone who donated no matter what, I just wish I could have put it out before the new year.

Thanks for putting up with me and all.

I haven’t put anything up in a while, so here’s a Calliope/Caliborn thing maybe? I dunno. I made it in like 10 minutes and then I went to go eat. Let’s see what happens

It’s finally here! Join the consorts on an amphibious adventure through the world of the Genesis Frog.

NOTE: Here the noun “amphibious adventure” means “goofy orchestral music by Alexander Rosetti” and “join the consorts on” means “listen to.” Also “through the world of the Genesis frog” means “at your computer.” Throw money at your screen now.

Still not as good as Squiddles.

I found this on Youtube. This is awesome!

You should listen to this!

I get caught up in titles for songs pretty often

But then I remember I actually named a song Gust of Heir and was content with that.

Hi guys! I found this old piece that I had set aside for a Homestuck project. I have since realized it really doesn’t fit that and has no real place in any of my projects currently! So I thought I’d share it with you guys until I find a place for it.

I originally wrote this to be an anthem for Jake’s dream death. It’s WIP name was “Our Hope is Lost”. I have since felt like it doesn’t really fit. Now I like to think of it as a background piece for a scene in a game or a movie. Something forested. Which is why I decided that it would be a really great meadow theme in my fake video game OST I was planning on making. Since that’s postponed indefinitely, I decided to show you guys it!

The main comments I’ve gotten on it is that it lacks a melody (which I don’t agree with) and is too pulsed but I feel like it’s pretty much exactly how I wanted it to come out. The only addition I haven’t put in is string runs up into the second phrase (0:52, 1:24). Once I finally figure out how to do that in Sibelius I’ll do it hahaha.

I hope you enjoy Meadows
