the world is (y)ours

My name is Tyler Dever. I'm a college kid who makes official music for MS Paint Adventures. You can see my contributions and projects here, on my music blog. Recently I began composing for the brilliant comic Olympus Overdrive.
This is my general blog for shenanigans and reblogs. I will reblog everything from my music blog though.

Projects!

I feel like just kind of talking about different things I’m doing, considering this blog meant for my music has just become silly rebloggings for a while, heh. Maybe I should make a professional blog and a personal blog.

Well the biggest thing is just my kind of push from Homestuck. I am still definitely writing songs for it, but I still feel as if a lot of what I do is kind of out of style for the comic and the rest of the music. I’ve been writing there for the sake of a flash for a while and that’s silly. I need to start writing things on my own! I will continue writing for the comic, but not with the intensity I have been (which isn’t even viewable because I get rid of so much of it that I get self conscious about). This also means I probably won’t end up doing my mock Rite of Spring song for Jack. I am not completely cutting it, but I don’t know how big of a priority that is over the next subject!

I’m currently attempting to get into a composition program at my university, and for that I’m preparing a portfolio. Clearly, Sburb is going to be a big part of it, but I’m working on some new stuff now that is taking priority at the moment. For it I’m currently writing a percussion ensemble based on the concept behind Clapping Music by Steve Reich. I am possibly going to attempt recompose L’etat and Candles and Clockwork to attempt to put them in. I’m also going to put in a new piece that I haven’t released but is basically done that might end up being a Homestuck track as well? Possibly the piano version of Gust of Heir too.

The two things I’m planning on working on after submitting this portfolio are exciting. They are a bit ridiculous and might not happen but I really want to try. The first is another full length piano suite with different works I’ve been fumbling around with for the last few months! The next thing is based on possibly my favorite poem I read in high school, The Hollow Men. I’ve never written something choral and would love to try. I’m really thinking of trying to write a large ensemble (I’m seriously thinking big choir + full symphony orchestra), multi-movement monster akin to Carmina Burana.

More stuff and announcements hopefully on the way. I can’t say any of these things are concrete, I still have college and attempting to get a job in the way, but I really want to work on all of these things and hopefully will in time! If you have any comments or questions, my ask box is always open!
